Missed calls still book: the AI receptionist setup

Roughly half of salon calls arrive outside opening hours — during appointments, at lunch, after close. Every unanswered call is a client trying a competitor. The fix has two parts, and both are set up in one evening.

Part 1: missed-call text-back (the 60-second rule)

When a call goes unanswered, the client gets a text within a minute: "Sorry we missed you — book anytime here: [your link], or reply and we'll call back." Speed is the whole trick; after ten minutes they've moved on. SeatBound sends this automatically on the Team plan.

Part 2: the AI receptionist that books

1. Switch on AI bookings in Settings → Get booked by AI and Google.
2. Connect the public SeatBound MCP endpoint in ChatGPT or Claude as a connector (details in the owner settings page — no key needed).
3. Test-book your own business through the assistant: search, check times, confirm with name and email.
4. Put "or book online anytime: [link]" on your voicemail message and Google Business profile.

Assistants book with 60+ minutes' notice and every arrival lands in your Today screen tagged with an AI-assistant badge. Deposits, cancellation windows and booking questions apply exactly as on the booking page — the AI channel follows the same rules, enforced by the same database.

Measure it weekly

Open Insights → Sources and compare bookings from the AI channel against the booking page and Google. If missed-call bookings aren't growing, the usual cause is step 4 — clients can't find the link. Fix the voicemail before anything else.
